5. Detection phases

Depending on the firmware version installed on the sensor, it is able to detect falls and the sitting position using different methods and functions.

Fall detection

Available function in all firmware versions of the sensor

The sensor goes through several detection phases to reliably detect and report a fall. Depending on the phase reached, a corresponding event is sent by the sensor. There are 2 phases and 3 events

Phases

After a person has fallen to the ground, it only takes a few seconds for the sensor to go into fall_detected.

If detection is complete after about 55 to 60 seconds and the fall has been confirmed, the sensor send the calling.

After the call has been made, the end of the detection phase is communicated and the detection process is ended as normal.

As soon as the person stands up or another person enters the room the fall detection stops with a normal event.

The entire detection process usually takes about 60 seconds (1 minute).

Fall test

The following procedure is possible to carry out a fall test:

  • enter the detection area
  • Walk around for 1-2 minutes
  • go down slowly
  • lay flat on your back
  • Wait for the detection phases to pass

Sitting detection

This feature is available starting with sensor firmware version 2025.2.8. It must be activated to use it.

The sensor goes through two detection phases to detect and report the sitting position. Depending on the phase reached, the sensor sends a corresponding event. There are two phases and two events.

This applies to sitting up in bed, from a previously lying position, as well as sitting on the floor.

Phases

After a person lying in bed sits up or sits on the floor, it only takes a few seconds for the sensor to enter the sitting detected state.

Once the detection is complete after approximately five seconds and the sitting position has been confirmed, the sitting confirmed state is activated.

The entire detection process typically takes approximately ten seconds.

Sitting test

To perform a sit test, follow these steps:

  • Enter the detection area
  • Walk around for 1-2 minutes
  • Lie down in bed and sit up after 30 seconds
  • Alternatively, sit on the floor
  • Wait for the detection phases to complete
