1. Factory Reset
Resetting the sensor will delete all data on the device. There will then no longer be a connection between your sensor and the PureLife Cloud.
In which situations I should reset the sensor?
- If the sensor is already connected to a cloud and the cloud should be changed.
- If you want to downgrade to an old firmware version. By resetting, the sensor will use the firmware that was installed when delivered.
- If the sensor should be connected to another WiFi network (SSID).
How do I perform a reset?
- Connect the sensor to power
- Wait about 30 seconds for the sensor to start
- Press the button on the top of the sensor for 40 to 60 seconds
- Wait until the white LED flashes
- When the white LED has stopped flashing, the button can be released
- Important: Then disconnect the power supply for 5 seconds and reconnect the sensor
The sensor is now reset to factory settings.
Why can't the sensor be reset in some situations?
Cause 1
If the sensor finds the previously configured WiFi network and can connect to it, then it must also be able to reach the stored PureLife Cloud (instance) via the WiFi network so that a reset is possible.
This means that a reset is not possible if the sensor finds the previously configured WiFi network and can connect, but cannot establish a connection to the stored PureLife Cloud (instance). In this case the reset fails.

Cause 2
If the sensor was provisioned and then immediately disconnected from the WiFi or the power and a firmware update from version 0.19 to >= version 0.31 could not be carried out, then a later reset of the sensor is no longer possible.
This is because with version 0.19 the sensor restarts after 20 seconds if a connection to the WiFi or the PureLife Cloud (instance) is not possible.
However, to trigger the reset, the button must be pressed for 40 to 60 seconds. Rebooting after 20 seconds will interrupt the reset process and not run.
Cause 3
The cause in this case is currently not clear. As soon as the button on the top is pressed for approx. 1 second to initiate the reset process, the LED flashes white. The white flashing is an indication of the startup process.
In this case, this means that the sensor restarts as soon as you press the button. In this state, the reset process cannot be initiated. Please contact the contact person at PureSec.
Cause 4
There is a software bug with sensor version 0.40. This prevents the sensor from being reset if it is not connected to the Internet and the cloud.
With version 0.40 it is possible to put the sensor into provisioning mode without resetting it, but the PureLife Care Mobile App does not yet support this procedure. When attempting to provision, the following error message appears.
We can test the sensor and in most cases get it back into working order.
Cause 5
When attempting to reset the sensor with sensor version 0.40 by pressing the button for a long time, the sensor does not start to flash, but instead lights up white permanently after about 30 seconds. When restarting the sensor, the sensor starts to flash white every 1.5 seconds (this is an indication that the sensor is restarting) and beep. Any attempts to press the button for different lengths of time do not change anything, even unplugging it from the power supply and plugging it back in does not change anything.
This situation can occur if the sensor cannot perform the reset process for reasons that are currently unknown. The software then freezes and restarts permanently, even if the sensor is unplugged from the power supply and reconnected.
We can test the sensor and in most cases get it back into working order.
