1. Factory Reset

Resetting the sensor will delete all data on the device. There will then no longer be a connection between your sensor and the PureLife Cloud.

In which situations I should reset the sensor?

  • If the sensor is already connected to a cloud and the cloud should be changed.
  • If you want to downgrade to an old firmware version. By resetting, the sensor will use the firmware that was installed when delivered.
  • If the sensor should be connected to another WiFi network (SSID).

How do I perform a reset?

  1. Connect the sensor to power
  2. Wait about 30 seconds for the sensor to start
  3. Press the button on the top of the sensor for 40 to 60 seconds
  4. Wait until the white LED flashes
  5. When the white LED has stopped flashing, the button can be released
  6. Important: Then disconnect the power supply for 5 seconds and reconnect the sensor

The sensor is now reset to factory settings.

Why can't the sensor be reset in some situations?

Cause 1

If the sensor finds the previously configured WiFi network and can connect to it, then it must also be able to reach the stored PureLife Cloud (instance) via the WiFi network so that a reset is possible.

This means that a reset is not possible if the sensor finds the previously configured WiFi network and can connect, but cannot establish a connection to the stored PureLife Cloud (instance). In this case the reset fails.

If the sensor is unable to connect to the previously configured WiFi network, the reset is possible without any problems.

Cause 2

If the sensor was provisioned and then immediately disconnected from the WiFi or the power and a firmware update from version 0.19 to >= version 0.31 could not be carried out, then a later reset of the sensor is no longer possible.

This is because with version 0.19 the sensor restarts after 20 seconds if a connection to the WiFi or the PureLife Cloud (instance) is not possible.

However, to trigger the reset, the button must be pressed for 40 to 60 seconds. Rebooting after 20 seconds will interrupt the reset process and not run.

Cause 3

The cause in this case is currently not clear. As soon as the button on the top is pressed for approx. 1 second to initiate the reset process, the LED flashes white. The white flashing is an indication of the startup process.

In this case, this means that the sensor restarts as soon as you press the button. In this state, the reset process cannot be initiated. Please contact the contact person at PureSec.

Cause 4

With sensor version 0.40, the reset behavior has changed if the sensor is unable to connect to the WiFi. In this case, the following order must be observed:

  • Connect the sensor to the power and let it start
  • Wait until the sensor starts
  • Wait until the sensor (which cannot find the WiFi) flashes red
  • Now press the button briefly once
  • The sensor restarts and flashes white
  • Once the sensor has restarted and the white flashing has stopped, press and hold the button for 5–8 seconds
  • Then release the button
  • The sensor restarts and flashes white
  • The sensor then starts into provisioning mode and flashes blue
  • If you disconnect the sensor from the power without provisioning it, it starts with the old/previous WiFi data
